SO Grown Up....

Here is my baby girl right after she woke up this morning!!!

Last night was the FIRST time Ashlyn slept in her crib at night, we've been doing really well with her napping in her crib but she's slept in a pack n play next to me in our room for almost 6 months, to be honest I did shed a tear when I couldn't sleep just hoping the night went well, which it did - she only woke up once and slept from 9PM to 9AM.... I was so proud of her

I have been using this teether toy that you can stick frozen grapes in or crushed ice (that's what I use for now) to help your little one chew on while teething and Ashlyn loves it, it is a favorite of hers to sit and munch on it while we eat or while I'm cooking dinner! She's also getting better and better at eating rice cereal which is great so when I start feeding her more solids she'll hopefully like them.

Tees Please....

I saw this on a blog called www.goodyblog.com and thought I would share, it's too cute if you're going to travel and fun for a gift they make it in all size onesies or shirts. They have another funny one that they mention below. Enjoy

After getting several emails from readers wanting to know where to snag this hilarious shirt that we featured in our June issue, I figured I'd share the love with everyone. It's from the fabulous Milkbomb.com. "Witty" onesies are a dime a dozen these days, but Milkbomb has some really unique—and actually funny—designs. (Another favorite of mine: Don't Ask, Don't Smell. ha!)

The FIRST Swim - my little water baby

This weekend was Ashlyn's first time in a pool and she never cried even though the water was a tiny bit cool - she was relaxed and had a great time
This is her Turtle floater and she loved to splash in the water
She splashed SO much she soaked Blake and herself many times
Here are her prune feet after swimming for the afternoon
Grandma and Grandpa Bird stopped by the pool to say hello and visit before dinner...

I sat Ashlyn in her car seat without being strapped in because she likes the toys and she usually just sits there - well she kept sliding down and twisting and this is how she ended up... no babies were harmed in this photo - besides she looks happy huh!

Solids?

Ashlyn is always looking curious when Blake wears a hat so he tried it on her this morning and she seemed to like it...
This morning was the first time I fed Ashlyn Rice Cereal and she would suck it off the spoon and also try and bite the spoon, she did pretty well but didn't want too much as I had just fed her 20 minutes before this.

She was curious about the shiny metal spoon handle and wanted to help me feed her a few times. She enjoyed being in her high chair as well! hope it lasts.

A MIRACLE

I had to post this because it happened as I was making my other post a few minutes ago. Ashlyn takes naps in a swing but she is growing out of it and I have been debating and dreading the time I needed to have her take naps in her crib.... (which she has never slept in because she is still in our room in her pack n play) but she is coming upon her 6 month and we've been wanting to move her to her own room! well I decided for her morning nap I'd just try it out and put her in her crib and put a blanket over the window so it would be dark - I heard a little whimper for a minute or so and then A MIRACLE HAPPENED - she's totally asleep! what an awesome feeling that she's in her own room taking a nap without the swing. Wahoooo..... I know she looks uncomfortable but I'm nervous to move her in case she wakes up - I think I might try anyway!!

Ashlyn's FIRST Diamondbacks Game!

This morning Ashlyn leaked out of her diaper so while I got new jammies for her I asked Blake to hold her in bed, this is what I found when I came back in the room - cute huh!! she was just keeping my pillow warm I guess!!
This was Ashlyn's view of the baseball game, she was a good people watcher and was quiet the whole game, driving home was another story as it was time to eat and go to bed!
Ashlyn loves her daddy and was happy to sit on his lap...
Ashlyn and mommy watching the game
We won the game 9-1 against the Houson Astros - Ashlyn was so excited and made fun little faces!
This was on the way there riding next to her newest cousin Kensington (Steve & Kadee's newest little girl) - we went to the game with my brother Steve and his wife Kadee who were great company! (Thanks mom and dad for watching there other 2 kids) we had a great time and ate some yummy hot dogs and an ice cream sundae. Hopefully we'll get to go again soon.. Have a happy Memorial Day weekend - we don't have plans but will stay busy some how.

Wall Decor

Nothing has really been going on so I figured I'd just show you a few things I've purchased for my house lately... not much just 2 square rod iron pieces for the pop in on my entry way and also a few stars for the guest bath! The stars come in a set of 3 all different sizes but this is the largest one that I put above the towels. I've been having the hardest time finding anything dark brown(to go with the dark brown and light blue decor)for the bathroom so when I saw these I just said what the heck I like 'em. My entry way is so boring and I desperately need a rug and a bench or something - it's depressing and feels like we just moved in however it's been just over a year. Last night Blake primed the new pony wall after he and Trent put the texture on and it looks great, we will be painting it tonight I'm sure because we were able to find the matching color the old owners used -wahoo! Here is a photo so you can check that out too. Ashlyn in napping and we're having left overs from last night - Of course I'm planning on watching American Idol and I really want Jordin to win, she did so well last night... I guess we'll see! - Yeah Jordin WON...

BUSY WEEKEND

Saturday we worked so hard to get our new ceiling fans wired and installed that we didn't even get ready for the day until 6PM, which was perfect timing because we headed to dinner at Chipotle with our friends Jensen, Karin and Stosh Jobe!! We had so much fun at dinner and then did a few errands and went home to have dessert & watch the end of a movie on tv before saying good night. Ashlyn and Stosh were pretty interested in each other it was really cute... Stosh is just 2.5 months older than Ashlyn. This morning I did my visiting teaching and headed to the grocery store to pick up some items for dinner tonight - we're having Trent and Robin's family over for Tangy Pork Chops and corn on the cob! can't wait it should be tasty

FIVE MONTHS

Ashlyn has been learning to sit up by herself, trying to crawl and waiting patiently for her two bottom teeth to cut through - and I thought being my age was hard... these little babies go through so much in such a short period of time it's amazing she is as happy as she is! Her red hair just gets redder (is that a word?) and we're hoping the back will grow in fast now that she is mostly on her tummy. Blake has been busy getting our mini remodel finished and installed 2 ceiling fans today with the help of my dad and he just has to spray texture on the pony wall so we can paint. It's so nice having a husband that likes to do projects himself - I of course like to help if I can but sometimes I'm sure I'm in the way a little. We've been hanging decorations and finally making our house feel like a home.
